Why do you make fudge with goat milk?
We chose to make all our fudge with goat milk instead of cow milk because we wanted to do something different than every other fudge company. Many people don't realize that goat milk is not only higher in butterfat, it is a healthy option for people who are lactose intolerant or sensitive to dairy. Goat milk is easier to digest, packed full of flavor, vitamins and minerals, and it allows us to create flavors in our products that are unique and delicious. We have also raised goats for more than a decade and they are such wonderful animals with unique individual personalities and we couldn't imagine not having them in our lives every day. You can read more about the benefits of goat milk on our blog here: https://busterandbellas.com/blogs/happenings-on-the-farm/why-is-goat-milk-good-for-you
Won't the fudge melt in the mail?
Absolutely not! Real fudge is a confectionary that is made by heating sugar and fat to "soft ball" stage. It is cooked until almost all the liquid has been removed and that allows for the product to get soft when exposed to extreme heat, but it will not liquify and will hold together. We ship our fudge in our beautiful recycled paper boxes with 1 LB in each box. The boxes are coated to prevent oils from bleeding through and each individual piece of fudge is also wrapped. If you live in a hot climate or are receiving your fudge on a hot day it is best to put the package into the refrigerator or freezer for a few hours before opening the box. Once it comes to room temperature you will not need to keep it in the refrigerator. Real fudge is perfectly safe to get soft and then firm again and it will not affect the shelf life or taste.
Do you use raw milk?
This is a common question and one we received often with our previous goat milk soap business. Even if we were to use raw milk when making our confectionary, it would be pasteurized during the cooking process. All milk is pasteurized whole goat milk. Not bleached, not homogenized and completely natural. There would be zero benefit to adding raw goat milk to a confectionary because it would no longer be raw once the product is finished cooking.
Do you have any sugar free options?
The simple fact is you cannot make fudge without sugar. The definition of fudge is: a soft candy made from sugar, milk or cream. That doesn't mean that we aren't going to have something to offer customers who need something sugar free. We can't exactly call it fudge, but we are working on a "fudge like" candy that will be 100% sugar free and ketogenic. Our number one goal is to have something for everyone and we will keep on developing and working until we have something that is not only delicious, but natural. Please subscribe to our mailing list for updates. We hope to have a sugar free option available sometime in 2022. In the meantime, our sugar-based goat milk fudge comes in a beautiful box and makes a great gift!
Do I need to refrigerate/How long will the fudge last?
Choosing to refrigerate your fudge is a personal choice but it is not required. Some people feel that keeping the fudge in the refrigerator will make it last longer but that is not the case, but keeping it in the refrigerator will not hurt it. If you buy a lot of fudge you can absolutely keep it in the freezer right inside of our beautiful confectionary boxes. When you are ready to eat it you can take it out and let it come to room temperature. If you simply can't wait that long then you can pop the entire box right into the microwave for 20 second intervals until soft. If you leave it in for too long it will liquify the fudge. You can keep our fudge in the freezer for up to 6 months but we recommend keeping it wrapped in plastic to prevent freezer burn. You can keep it on the countertop for weeks without it spoiling but the longer it sits around, the firmer it will become.
Do your products taste goaty?
Our fudge is made using extremely fresh goat milk and has not goaty taste to it. Many people tasting it won't even realize it's made with goat milk unless you tell them. We are developing other goat milk confectionary products such as toffee made using goat butter and it tastes extremely goaty. Some people love this and the flavor profile is so rich and unique. If you like goat cheese you will love our toffee!
How long will it take to receive my package?
We work 7 days a week, 365 days a year on our farm and it is our goal to get your package shipped out as quickly as possible. Being up in Vermont there is the possibility that bad weather will delay us getting our your package, or delay us receiving ingredients from our suppliers. As our business grows we learn and work out the kinks but most orders ship out the same or next day. We will do our best to make sure we have fudge ready to go as soon as orders are received. Packages are shipped with USPS Priority Mail. As everyone knows, the USPS has been having problems with delivering mail on time but in our experience they are far more reliable and faster than Fedex or UPS. USPS is also the only provider who can get packages moved across the country in the shortest time frame for the best price. This allows us to keep our pricing competitive.
Do you have store?/Is your farm open?
We do not have a store and our farm is not open to the public. We are considering the possibility of having a small store on our farm someday but you should take a moment to read the "About Our Farm" section of our website and you will see about the uphill battle it was for us to get to where we are today. It took us more than a decade to get this business launched and required us moving three times in 10 years, but we made it happen! We hope that in a few years we can get permission from the town of Londonderry to build a store that will allow us to open the farm to the public. Until then we appreciate the support and will get your products shipped fast. We also hope to be in some local shops here in Vermont over the coming months and will post info on where fudge can be purchased at that time.

What are the ingredients in your fudge?
DO NOT be fooled by many of the large fudge companies out there. The reason they don't include ingredients on their website is because they want to hide them. The entire purpose of our company is to make confectionary without all the added garbage and toxic ingredients used by many of the commercial candy producers. YOU DON'T NEED PALM OIL TO MAKE CANDY AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IT! Many fudge producers are making their "fudge" using a boxed powder that is full of unneeded additives and palm oil. It's a turn-key solution for people who want to get into the fudge business without doing any of the actual work required to make a unique and natural product. Palm oil not only is extremely unhealthy, but the palm industry is notorious for deforestation and wildlife habitat destruction. It took us more then 10 years to perfect our recipes. We will never share them, but we are happy to share our ingredients. Please visit each product page for a list of ingredients for that specific product. Everything we make starts with sugar and goat milk. Simple is delicious!
Why do you use corn syrup in your fudge?
We tried for years to find a way to make fudge on a large scale without using corn syrup but it simply wasn't possible. Corn syrup is actually more expensive than sugar and we use a little bit in each batch of fudge to help prevent crystallization. We tested every possible alternative and none of them worked as well as corn syrup. By adding a small amount to every batch it provides a much longer shelf life, a smoother, creamier texture and most importantly it stops the sugars from crystallizing during the cooling process. We do not use high fructose corn syrup in any of our products.
